Dunn State Park is found just a short drive from the Visitor's Center at Gardner Heritage State Park. The pond itself is made up of 20 acres, about one-sixth of the park's total size. Canoes and other non-motorized watercraft are welcome here, and paddle boats can be rented during the summer months.

The Gardner Heritage State Park Visitor Center is located in a restored 19th century firehall in downtown Gardner. The center offers tourist information and a chronicle of the areas' history, including the proliferation of the furniture industry, which has earned Gardner the nickname "Chair City".
